The Forge story began in 1938
1938
Company Established
- Amalgamated Casualty Insurance Company was organized as a mutual insurance company in 1938
- Founded by Jack Dalton, a former race car mechanic, who emigrated to the U.S. from England in the early 1930s
- Operated as a taxi insurance specialist in the District of Columbia and, over time, several adjacent counties in Maryland

2011
Expansion in Public Auto
- Beginning in 2011, expanded operations to additional states (in addition to District of Columbia and Maryland)
- Expanded commercial auto product offerings to additional vehicle classes (in addition to taxis), but remained focused on public auto segment (where operating the vehicle IS the business)
2022
Forge Emerges
- Rebranded to Forge concurrent with completion of $20MM mutual-to-stock conversion stock offering
- Laid foundation for expansion into small business commercial auto segment (where the vehicle is a TOOL in the business)
- Meaningful investments made across all dimensions of the business (distribution, product, technology, claims, finance, etc.)
